Mountain Meru is a volcano of 4565 meters (4565 m) above sea level. The mountain is the fifth in length in the African content. Mountain Meru is located in the Arusha National Park which established in 1960 and where wildlife around the Momella Lakes and Ngurudoto Volcano (Ngurudoto crater) were preserved and protected in this area.
The park has 137 square Kilometres [137 km] and is located 35 Kilometres [35 km] from the Arusha tourist city and the Kilimanjaro Airport.
The park's attractions include volcanoes, lakes, forests and wildlife such as giraffe, elephants, buffalo and many others. There are also many birds including flamingo, and the forests around Mount Meru are a monkeys' habitat. Climbing Mount Meru takes three to four days and a good time for climbing the Mountain is from June to February where rain occurs in November. And the best time to see Kilimanjaro Mountain from Meru is between December and February.
